Sit-to-Stand Desks
Frequently Asked Questions
Standing desks (also known as height adjustable desks, or sit-to-stand desks) can help you stay active throughout the day by allowing you to stand up and sit down as needed. Regular movement can improve blood flow and potentially alleviate any issues with your posture. In fact, our certified ergonomist suggests people change positions from sitting to standing at least every hour, preferably even more.
While the ideal height for a standing desk will vary from person to person, the general recommendation is that your standing desk should be at elbow level, both when sitting and standing. To help determine the best height for your desk, measure the distance from the floor to your elbows while holding them at a 90-degree angle when sitting and standing. Adjust the desk to these heights and make sure it feels comfortable to you. All of our sit-to-stand desks are available in both basic and extended height to accommodate a wide range of heights when standing and sitting.
The first step to correctly using your standing desk is to make sure both the keyboard and the monitor are set at elbow-level and eye-level, respectively. After determining the correct height, the best way to properly use your standing desk is to practice good posture. Keep your neck tall, relax your shoulders, keep your wrists parallel to the desk surface, and avoid locking your knees or slouching while using your desk.
