Comments about Steelcase Leap with 3D Knit Back:

Amazing quality - these chairs are a game changer. The old Herman Miller chairs that we had were ok but a few of my employees who had back issues complained about them hurting their backs. Now, those same employees rave about how comfortable the leap is. We love the breathable mesh and some are even working longer hours.

This is the best chair ever! All of my previous chairs have been Cheap Chairs. There is something about the Leap Chair that prevents my feet from going numb - a big problem with previous chairs. Great for sleeping at work :-)

I sit in this chair about 10 hours each day and have to say, it is the best chair I have ever sat in. I've sat in numerous Aeron chairs in numerous conference rooms - none are as comfortable as my Leap. I have the camel leather with headrest and platinum base. Absolutely a treat to sit in and if you can afford it (that leather option makes the price fairly steep)- it's the best!

Comments about Steelcase Leap with 3D Knit Back:

We used Steelcase office chairs where I worked and loved them. I tried several chairs from office supply places for my home computer. None of them were comfortable after about 30 minutes. I am retired so I contacted a friend at work and asked him what manufacturer and model the chairs were. I bought the Leap chair and have been extremely happy with it. I spend hours each day on my computer and I get great lower back support and can easily adjust the arms as I need.

I spend over 40 hours a week in my home office chair. So, when I started to feel various pains in my back and hips, I did some serious Internet searches for a new desk chair. This Steelcase chair was consistently rated among the best high-end, but affordable chairs. I couldn't be happier!

Comments about Steelcase Leap with 3D Knit Back:

I work at home, sitting for many hours in front of a computer. After a succession of chairs from big-box office stores that looked good and left me stiff and sore, I invested in a used Leap V2.

My back and butt pain went away nearly immediately. Now, I'm the first to admit that I don't have serious orthopedic problems... but I was beginning to HATE sitting, and short breaks were less and less helpful in relieving the pain. The Leap has made all of the difference for me.

And unlike "Airy" mesh-bottom chairs, my rear doesn't get cold when sitting for long periods. I've just bought two more Leaps for other rooms of my house (one for my Physical Therapist wife).

Comments about Steelcase Leap with 3D Knit Back:

I work for a large corporation that is very erogonimically minded. They replaced our existing desk chairs approx. 12 years ago with the leap chair, which I was able to adjust to perfectly fit my body and posture. In the last few years I have begun to have some skeletal problems that cause pain when I sit for long periods in unfamiliar chairs. Since my desk chair at home was completely different from the chair at work, it became painful to work from home when I needed to. So I finally ordered a leap chair for my home office and can now work relatively pain free. The new chair is slightly smaller than my chair at work and the upholstery is a different fabric, but if fits well into the small space I have and looks nice. I only hope that it holds up as well as my work chair has for the past 12 years. I recommended this chair to a co-worker for his home office, and he is very pleased with his chair as well.

I use my Leap at my computer. I thought I had a pretty good chair before, but the Leap is waaay better. Of course, the multi-adjustability enables me to personalize the Leap to my own unique body. This chair makes it so easy to maintain the best seated posture. I held off getting the Leap - seemed like a real indulgence, plus I would be getting it without having actually sat in it. I figure I got lucky there.

                          Hello Connie,

Choosing a platinum base means you will have the standard plastic base painted with a platinum finish. When you choose the polished aluminum, you'll get a different base, this is constructed of aluminum and has a polished finish.

There's no difference in terms of durability or performance of the chair.

All of Steelcase seating products meet or exceed all applicable ANSI / BIFMA (American National Standards for Office Furnishings) requirements for safety and performance.

Leap 462 series seating products have been tested to increased loads and forces that exceed the ANSI/BIFMA X5.1 Standard (253 lbs). This testing ensures that the Leap seating products will support users weighing up to 300 lbs with no loss of performance.

Gesture was optimized for postural implications of new ranges in work modes, users, technology. The approach we took with Gesture is to keep workers comfortable in a range of work modes, working with a range of technology, and sitting in a range of postures. Gesture remains true to the essence of Alive Seating first seen in Leap while taking it to the next level addressing the new insights and trends we’ve seen through research. Gesture and Leap represent the best two chairs in the industry and we plan on keeping them both in the market.

                          Hello Walter,

The difference is that the tall version will have an extended pneumatic cylinder so the seat height range would be 17"H to 24"H, while on the regular Leap chair this is 15 1⁄2"H to 20 1⁄2"H.

We currently don't offer the Leap chair with an extended pneumatic cylinder on Steelcase Store, but if you contact an Authorized Steelcase Dealership in your area, they will be able to assist you in ordering one:

The headrest and the backrest are made as a single part, so in order to add a headrest to an existing chair you will need to replace the backrest.

                          Hello Mike,

The seat height can only be modified on this range 15 1/2"H to 20 1/2"H. If you need an extended height you can get an extended pneumatic cylinder by contacting one of our authorized dealers.
