Have used these for years, and it was time to get my own. I can sit in it all day, unlike a cheaper office chair. Pricey, but worth it - recommended!

My chair was built in 1999. It is my home office chair and I am in it every day from 8 to 18 hours. This chair is phenomenal! After 12 years, except for a worn arm pad, it still works like new. There is hardly a squeak and all movement is smooth. I love it and I definitely recommend it to everyone!

Comments about Steelcase Criterion - High Back:

In the mid 1990's, my former company bought these chairs for all employees in my department. I recently called one of the employees to see if the chairs were still in use in order to get the model number. They are and I ordered one for my office.

Not only are these chairs workhorses, they are very comfortable, attractive and can be adjusted to fit almost anyone. I couldn't be happier with my new one.

I bought this particular chair because I have just like it at my desk at work. I have just started to work from home, and I knew that I needed a good sturdy and comfortable chair to handle my big frame. (6'0")(300+ lbs.) This chair has adjustments for all positions so as to achieve the best level of support and comfort. I know from using this same type of chair for several years, that the material, hydraulics, and finish hold up very well from everyday use.

I've had this chair since 1999 and still love it. I developed tendonitis about 1995 working with my arms unsupported, and this chair has been a lifesaver ever since I found it. Its immensely adjustable arms are key - and the back support is outstanding too. I can't recommend it highly enough, and 10 years of service and still beats out the higher priced chairs I try in stores or other offices.

This chair is just about identical to the chair I use in my office at work. After years of dissatisfaction with other products and extensive research, I decided to spend the large sum of money and get this chair. It is expensive -- especially during these tough times -- but also that good. The price was worth it for me.

I received a criterion office chair as a Birthday gift.
I misplaced the information that came with it, and wondered how I would find out which model number it is ?
Would it be somewhere on the chair?

The Criterion chair offered on the Steelcase Store is the 4535330DP. This is actually the Criterion chair with fully adjustable arms, because it adds the pivot arm adjust ability.

It offers 7 adjustments for tailored support including adjustable height, width, pivot arms

Hi Minou, It all comes down to preference. The high-back chair is for those that like the feel of a full back seating. Both versions are extremely comfortable for full day use. Personally, I do enjoy leaning back in a chair at times during the day, and that is when a high back chair is really most comfortable. But again, that is a matter of preference.

This is a great question. If you bring your chair into an authorized Steelcase dealership in your area, they will definitely be able to assist you in re-upholstering your Criterion chair for even longer extended longevity. I am looking to see if you have replacement seat cushions for these chairs. Minimally, do you have slipcovers to cover the seats?

That is a great suggestion, but unfortunately we do not offer slipcovers for our cushions. You can, however, bring your chair into any authorized Steelcase dealership in your area to have them repair or replace the upholstery and bring more longevity to your Criterion chair. Hope this helps: http://store.steelcase.com/dealer-finder/
